Guber Race: More Aspirants Adopt Gov. Amaechi

Ahead of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primaries scheduled for 9 January, delegates in Rivers State have continued to adopt the state governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, as their sole candidate for the election.
Delegates from Eleme, Okrika, Ogu/Bolo and Tai local government areas met at Nchia, headquarters of Eleme Local Government Area and adopted Governor Amaechi following a motion moved by the Chairman of Eleme Local Government Council, Mr. Oji Ngofa and seconded by the leader of Okrika Local Government legislative council, Mr. Wisdom Ogan.
A similar endorsement was also made by delegates from Khana and Gokana at Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area, following a motion moved by a former member of the National Assembly from Khana, Mr. Nesfield Nwiko and supported by Chief Paneedom Baadom.
The delegates were unanimous in their position that the PDP and indeed the entire Rivers State do not have a better candidate for the 2011 gubernatorial election than Amaechi.
They promised their support for the governor in his bid to ensure his continuity in office and consolidate his good work.
Addressing the delegates separately at Nchia and Bori, Governor Amaechi reaffirmed his commitment to the actualisation of his promises and appealed to them to vote for him and mobilise their people to register during the voters’ registration exercise from 15 January.
“See yourselves as the vehicle God wants to use to return me to office because before I came to ask for your votes, God has already assured me that I will win,†Amaechi told the delegates. He also appealed to them to vote for only credible candidates.
