Jigawa records first case of coronavirus, Kazaure LGA locked down

Jigawa State confirmed on Monday its first case of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The patient was found in Kazaure LGA.

Gov. Muhammad Badaru made the disclosure at a news conference in Dutse.

He also announced that Kazaure LGA will be locked down from midnight today for seven days.

Badaru said the patient had been transported to an isolation centre in Dutse.

Tracing of his contacts was ongoing, he said.

According to Badaru, all contacts would be isolated pending the outcome of test results to be carried out.

Badaru urged all residents of the state to remain calm as “we work collectively to overcome this pandemic”.
