Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, South West Nigeria, this afternoon formally picked the nomination form of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, to vie for a second term in office under the flagship of the party.
Hundreds of his supporters stormed the ACN secretariat, Acme Road, Ogba, Lagos very early in the morning to drum up support for the governor.
Fashola received the nomination form from the ACN chairman, Lagos State, Chief Henry Ajomale around 12:13 p.m. after he had paid the stipulated amount for the form.
In his speech, Fashola said with him picking the form, the coast is now clear for the ACN to win Lagos and that he was ready to serve the state for another four years.
“I am humbled by the support of all of you and I am emboldened to lead the government that you have formed by your support. Now that the process has been defined, we will move on,†he said.
Speaking, Ajomale said the party did not make a mistake in endorsing Fashola for a second term, saying the governor deserved it after he had performed well.
“We pray that he takes us to greater heights. Picking you as the party’s choice was very popular and it has brought about joy in all quarters,†he stated.
Ajomale stated that with the coast now clear, the party had a lot of work to do to ensure that the ACN sweeps Lagos in the coming polls.
