Businesses, markets, malls and eateries in Lagos has been given six hours to operate beginning from Monday, 4, May as part of the controlled easing of lockdown in the state.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced this on Wednesday at the State House, Marina, while giving update on Coronavirus in the State.
According to the governor, “All open markets and stores will be allowed to open daily from 9am till 3pm on selected days. Everyone attending these markets and stores will be mandated to observe precautionary measures of social distancing and very high levels of personal and hand hygiene.
“Malls will be allowed to open with the proviso that stores in the malls maintain a 60% occupancy capacity within the stores; while also ensuring that a 2-meter social distancing is maintained between every person and the next, in the store. Hand sanitizers and/or wash basins must be provided at all entry points, and temperature checks must be carried out.”
On eateries and restaurants, Sanwo-Olu said they would be allowed to open daily between 9am and 3pm, but that only take-out and delivery services will be permitted, while in-dining services were not allowed.
“All food handlers and staff of eateries are expected to have gone through exhaustive health checks and must also practise high levels of personal and hand hygiene in serving members of the public.
“Food handlers are also mandated to wear masks and hand gloves at all times; particularly during the preparation and serving of the food.
“Hand sanitizers and/or wash basins must be provided at all entry points, and temperature checks must be carried out periodically throughout the period they are open for business,” he said.
The governor added that companies were allowed to open for operation for six hours on daily basis between 9.00am and 3.00pm, in accordance with the stipulated guidelines.
