Obas Back ACN Senatorial Candidate
Traditional rulers in the Lagos East Senatorial District have given their support to Alhaji Gbenga Ashafa who is vying for the Senate under the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the April elections.
Ashafa, Permanent Secretary, Lands Bureau, is vying to represent Lagos East Senatorial District in the upper legislative chambers of the National Assembly.
The Obas gave their blessings when Ashafa visited them to intimate them of his interest to contest the senatorial seat of the district on the platform of the ACN.
The Obas are the Elemoro, Oba Tajudeen Adebanjo Afolabi; The Olu of Epe Kingdom, Oba Sefiu Olatunji Adewale; the Alara of Alara, Oba Akeem Okunola Adesanya; the Kalejayaiye Onola of Noforija, Eredo-Epe, Oba Yemi Ogunlaja; Oba Adekoya Odusanya; the Olofin Ajaye of Orugbo Iddo, Oba Animashaun Kamorudeen Ishola; the Oloja of Epe, Oba Odumeru and the Abowa of Agbowa – Ikosi.
Ashafa, who hails from the royal family of Oke-Odo Elemoro in the Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area of the state, assured the Obas that he would contribute to the socio-economic development of the district if he becomes a senator.
He also promised to work hard in the Senate to bring democracy dividends to the senatorial district in particular and Lagos State, in general.
In his remarks at the occasion, Oba Afolabi called on sons and daughters of Elemoro to emulate Ashafa’s “virtues of kindness, rare gift of discipline and ability to assist all and sundry at all times.”
Alara of Alara, Oba Adesanya expressed satisfaction that a son from the Elemoro royal family was elected to represent the Lagos East Senatorial District in the next democratic dispensation.
Ashafa also registered at Ward F, Iwerekun zone of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area in the ongoing voter registration exercise.
