After 30 Years: Unilag Gets First Class Mass Comm Student
It was like a jinx was broken when Aladegbaiye Adedapo Tunmise emerged the first Mass Communication student of the University of Lagos (Unilag) to graduate with a First Class degree.
For the past three and a half decades, no student of the department has achieved that feat.
The light complexion Aladegbaiye became an instant hero after he graduated with a spectacular 4.74 CGPA out of a possible 5.0.
However, his colleagues and lecturers, who refer to him as a bookworm, said they were not surprised about the development because it is a well deserved honour.
In his own words, the Ondo State-born jinx-breaker attributed the success to God and hard work. He also urged others to strive to attain the same feat.
The convocation ceremony was held at the school’s Multi-Purpose Hall on Wednesday and Thursday last week.
The institution graduated a total number of 7,041, comprising 3,825 First Degrees, 2,875 Masters, 265 Post-Graduates and 76 Doctors of Philosophy.
