Lawyer Jailed 6 Months
An Abuja Magistrate’s Court on Thursday sentenced a lawyer, Weweh Clement, to six months imprisonment without an option of fine for criminal breach of trust and cheating involving N1.2 million.
Clement, 38, of House 16, D2 Crescent, Phase 1, Lugbe, Abuja, was docked before Magistrate Sadia Mayana on a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Salihu Mohammed, told the court that Mr. Ephraim Ojeh of Gomic Construction International Ltd., Abuja, reported the accused at the Gwarinpa Police Station, Abuja, on Nov. 23, 2009
He said sometime in 2007, 0jeh secured the services of Clement as an agent to manage a property on a rent of N600,000 annually.
He said the accused collected N1.2 million for two-year rent from one Abdul, a tenant and converted the money to his personal use instead of remitting the amount to the complainant.
Mayana sentenced the accused to six months imprisonment without an option of fine and that he should also pay the money involved to complainant.
