Baale Empowers Youths

In order to curb the incessant social vices among youths in Lagos, the Baale of OmoleLand, Alhaji Taiwo Nasiru Bakare, has concluded plans to organise a football competition tagged; Baale Cup.

The competition will feature 16 grassroots clubs around Ikeja, Agege and environs. 10 teams have confirmed their readiness to take part in the three-week tourney, which will be played at the Government Technical College, Agidingbi, Ikeja.

The sponsor, Bakare told P.M.Sport that the competition is part of the programmes he lined up for the youths in the New Year.

Bakare, who bagged a Diploma Certificate in Coaching from the Nigeria Institute for Sports NIS, disclosed that he will use the competition to empower the youth is his community.

“Our youths need to be engaged positively through sports. Football is one of the sports I feel that I can use to empower the youths in Omoleland and other areas in Ikeja. I am happy that many teams have shown interest in the competition,” he said.

Bakare who is a Masters Degree holder in Education Administration and Planning from the University of Lagos, promised to make the tourney a memorable one.

He urged other sports philanthropists and corporate bodies to contribute their own quota to the competition.

The match coordinator, Prince Wale Atiba, promised that he will organise a hitch-free competition and urged clubs to come for their registration forms.
