Court Dissolves Hair Dresser’s Marriage
An Agege Customary Court in Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, has dissolved a marriage between a hair dresser, Mrs. Yemisi Eboigbe and her husband, Mr. Emmanuel Eboigbe due to irreconcilable differences.
The marriage was dissolved following a petition by Yemisi that her husband was fond of beating her and doesn’t care for her.
The petitioner revealed further that they had been staying apart for the past three years and that no more love existed between them.
Delivering his ruling on the petition, the president of the court, Mr. E.B. Shokule stated: “The couple stayed apart for over three years. They no longer love each other as they have found other lovers.
“In accordance with Order 7, Rule 3, Cap. 19, the court dissolves their union and they should not be addressed as husband and wife again.
”They should keep absolute peace whenever and wherever they meet themselves. The custody of the child shall be with the plaintiff, Mrs. Eboigbe, while access to the child shall be at the school premises for the defendant, Mr. Eboigbe. He shall be responsible for the maintenance of the child with N3,000 monthly and payments of school fees as at when due.â€
The court told the defendant that he can appeal the judgment within 30 days, adding that violation of the judgment shall be tantamount to contempt of court.
