Go And Register, ACN Chieftain Charges Lagosians

Financial Secretary of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Lagos, Alhaji Hammed Olanrewaju, has charged Lagosians to use the one week extension of the ongoing voter registration to put down their names for the general election in April.

Olanrewaju, who registered at Ward C, Olaleye market, Ebute Metta West, Lagos Mainland, told P.M.NEWS that the number of people who had registered in Lagos, as released by the Independent Electoral Commission is not encouraging, considering the population of the state.

“It is unfortunate that some people are travelling to their home states to register. I had a report that indigenes of Ibadan, Ijebu, Kwara, Igbo and Hausa are travelling to their respective states, which to me is very bad. As we all earn our living in Lagos, we should stay here and register,” he said.

“The one week extension is another opportunity for those who have not registered to do so now.”

The ACN chieftain, however, called on the INEC to correct the lapses and ease the tension the hiccups have been giving Nigerians.

“I want to implore INEC to please find solution to the complaints of Nigerians during the registration. It’s a pity that the youth corps members employed for the exercise could not operate the machine very well, and the time it takes to register one person is too long. These problems must be solved during the extension so that more Nigerians would be able to register,” he said.
