Voleex C30 Hits Nigerian Market
When the phrase “cheap and cheerful†is applied to cars, it will invariably mean that whichever make or model it is used on will cost little but be pleasant or enjoyable to own.
While some cars may fit that description, most are, in fact, more nasty than cheerful. But with the ever increasing sophistication in consumer taste, having a tantalising price tag alone just would not cut it.
This brings us to the Voleex C30. It is an important car for Asian Hall Cica Nigeria Limited as its parent company – Great Wall Motors – furthers its aim in shaping the brand to become a rival to the best in the business – like Toyota and Honda.
As an economical family car, Voleex C30’s focus is to consider the practicality of vehicle design and driving comfort, which is being catered by the presence of a rear flat floor and a CVT transmission. The Voleex C30 is equipped with a 1.5L GW4G15 DOHC engine, having maximum power output of 77kW/6000rpm (105 hp), and maximum torque of 138Nm/4200rpm having top speed of 170km/h.. GreatWall claims that consumption of C30 is just 6.9 litres per 100 kilometre driving while complying with Euro IV emission standards.
Exterior: The Voleex C30 is a handsome car and is definitely one of the best looking in its segment. Boasting GreatWall Motors new design language, it has a chiselled and sophisticated exterior that is light years ahead in its segment.
Although there is no particular exaggerated highlight, the whole design meets with the current popular trend, it gives a natural comfortable feeling.
Interior: The cabin -like the exterior- is a giant leap over its rivals on the segment. Fit and finish is first rate, and the quality of materials used is excellent. Every switch, knob and button works with well oiled precision and tactility that can put many pricier Japanese and European cars to shame.
Practically speaking, the C30 fares well with plentiful space in the front and fairly generous accommodation in the rear due in part to the long 2,610mm wheelbase. The boot is well shaped, and offers easy access as well. Cabin storage is excellent with door pockets and a big glove box.
Voleex C30 uses a McPherson independent front suspension and rear longitudinal torsion beam suspension. Standard features include driver, passenger and side airbags, seat-belt reminders, electronic anti-theft engine, central locking, full hydraulic power steering system, steering wheel height adjustment, central locking, all 4 electric windows, USB and MP3 functionality.
In addition to the standard model, the elite model comes with power folding mirrors, headlight height adjustment, multi-function steering wheel, power sunroof, heated power seats and much more.
Our Verdict: So should you buy the new C30? The answer is an undeniable yes. It is good to drive, beautifully built, packed with equipment and most importantly does not hurt the wallet with its price tag and reasonable fuel economy. It is without doubt one of the bow tie’s best cars to date, and with orders fully booked in less than a week, it seems that many buyers out there are cottoning on to its charm.
