Ogun Indigenes Slam OBJ, Daniel Over Face-off
Indigenes of Ogun State have condemned both Governor Gbenga Daniel and former President Olusegun Obasanjo in the way they handled the nomination of candidates for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the coming April polls in the state.
Governor Daniel at the weekend declared total war on Obasanjo and his supporters, saying the war will be fought to a logical conclusion.
Commenting on the crisis rocking the ruling party in the state, a political analyst, Kola Adebimpe, who resides in Abeokuta said: “The fight is over. Daniel should allow the law to take its course. As far as I am concerned, he is finished politically. He failed to perform and the time has come for him to be accountable for his misdeeds.
“He has overstayed in power. He has a bad reputation and he is corrupt. He cannot move Ogun State forward except backward. Enough is enough. Corruption harms the society and it undermines the rule of law.
“Daniel and Obasanjo are just beating about the bush. PDP will soon be wiped out through the ballot box. The fact that a disagreement has arisen between the two of them is a plus for the masses,†he said.
Kareem Kumapayi, a grassroots politician said: “The governor knows he has questions to answer and also has skeletons in his cupboard. That is why he is trying to impose someone that will cover his misdeeds. His declaration of war against Obasanjo shows that the governor is an ingrate.
“Moreover, we know how he lobbied for power in 2003 and this Baba is the one that backed him and presented him to the party. Well, I don’t see why the two of them wants to die in PDP. Daniel is imposing his stooge, Isiaka Adeleke on us just to cover up his dubious acts, while Obasanjo is imposing Olurin just to subject us to political slavery for another four years,†he stated.
Another Abeokuta resident, Olanrewaju Aransiola said: “Gbenga Daniel is just having a taste of the bitter pills he gave to members of the Ogun State House of Assembly. He’s a tyrant and now that he has met his match in Obasanjo, he’s singing war song. If he likes, let him sing love song, he and his devilish boys must go.
“I’m surprised he is crying like an amateur. Obasanjo will not talk in the open. Their fight is a blessing to Ogun State. May their differences over money sharing last forever. And may God deliver our dear state from the bulls that have been leading the state without direction. OGD means Ogun Grand Destroyer. They will all lose, amen.â€
In his own reaction to the imbroglio between Daniel and Obasanjo, another indigene of Ogun State, Segun Ogunbanjo said: “Gbenga Daniel has wined and dined with the devil and he will surely be devoured by the devil. He is getting compensated for the evil he perpetrated in the state. It’s a shame that he and Obasanjo are engaged in a war of attrition that I hope will consume the two of them.
“Good for Obasanjo too. God uses people like OGD to demystify people like OBJ. Since 2006, he and his supporters engaged Daniel in dirty politics and he couldn’t function as he did in his first tenure, leaving the people to suffer,†he said.
