Two Suspected Robbers In Police Net
The police in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, have arrested two robbery suspects operating with motorcycle popularly called okada.
The suspects, Olatunji Thompson and Noah Noble, P.M.NEWS learnt, were operating along Bode Thomas Road when a distress call was made to the police at Bode Thomas Division. The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, was said to have immediately mobilised his anti-robbery team to the area.
According to a police source, on sighting the police, the robbers sped off on their motorcycle and were given a hot chase by the police.
Items recovered from the robbers when they were arrested include a bag containing one locally made pistol and an axe.
The suspects have made useful statements to the police and have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba for further investigations.
In a similar development, the anti-robbery patrol team attached to Somolu Division, while on a routine patrol along Ikorodu road, near Palmgrove, had a shootout with suspected armed robbers operating on a motorcycle. The suspects were alleged to have earlier robbed a victim of a bag.
During the shootout, one of the suspected robbers was gunned down while the other escaped with the motorcycle.
Items recovered from the deceased include one locally made pistol and one live cartridge.
