Some stakeholders have disagreed over the decision of Lagos State Football Association to stop clubs and football organisers who are yet to register with the football body in the state.
The decision was taken recently by the new board led by Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, who felt that there should be measures to regulate grassroots football competitions and clubs in the state.
Akinwunmi told GSG that the board has planned to organise stakeholders meeting very soon to educate club owners, coaches, and football associations about the new development.
Reacting to the decision made by the board, Secretary of Gbagada Grassroots Sports Association, Kemac Emina, urged Lagos FA not to be harsh on football associations that are not registered. He said the board should give them enough time to raise the money for the registration
“It was a good decision but it is too early for the Lagos FA to stop competitions because the organisers fail to register,†he said.
Coach of Breakthrough FC, Ayinde Jimoh, also urged the Lagos FA to implement the policy next year because some grassroots clubs have no money to register now.
Rising Stars Coach, Lateef Ishola, told GSG that the Lagos FA should not stop unregistered clubs from taking part in high profile competitions in the state. Ishola said the stakeholders meeting will be an avenue for the coaches and other stakeholders to express their feeling over the decision taken by the Lagos FA.
However, Secretary of Lagos State Grassroots Soccer Association, Ganiu Aliu, if the decision is taken  fake organisers will be stopped from organising football competitions in the state.
