Crisis may be looming in Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State as the legislative arm of the council is at loggerheads with the chairman, Dr. Adetayo Adedayo.

The councillors, at a plenary session on Monday, reviewed the activities of the council especially the spending of last year’s budget and money deployed for the just concluded voter registration exercise and resolved to invite the chairman to the floor of the House tomorrow, to explain issues the councillors described as “impeachable offences.”

In a letter of invitation dated 14 February, 2011 signed by Mr. Bello Ganiyu Olatunbosun, Leader of the House and six other councillors and made available to P.M. NEWS this morning, Adedayo is asked to explain how N552 million approved for capital projects in 2010 and N121 million supplementary budget for 2010 were spent.

The legislators also want the council boss to justify the spending of N8 million on the voter registration exercise in the area, among other allegations.

Several attempts to get the council chairman’s reaction to the allegations were futile as calls made to his mobile phone did not go through as at the time of going to press.
