Group Raises Alarm Over Plot To Destabilise Lagos

A socio-political pressure group, Coalition of Oodua Self Determination Groups, COSEG, has alleged a plot by those it described as undesirable elements to destabilise Lagos State before and during the April election.

A statement by its president and secretary, Dayo Ogulana and Razaq Oloko Oba alleged that “some people suspected to be stooges of some unpopular politicians in the state have perfected plans to design vests and symbols of a popular party with a view to wearing them and causing chaos to portray the popular party as violent.”

This plan, according to COSEG, is to cause crisis that could either lead to cancellation of the election in Lagos State or lead to a declaration of emergency rule.

While asserting that, “ours is not a politician organisation,” COSEG stated that, “we would have raised the alarm all the same, our modus operandi is to ensure the stability of Yoruba land and by extension the whole country.”

The group therefore warned that “any attempt to destabilise Lagos State where people are enjoying the dividends of democracy to the maximum, as well as any part of Yoruba land would be resisted by all legal, constitutional and democratic weapons at our disposal.”
