LASG, Event Centres At War Over Traffic Jams

The Lagos State government has warned event centres across the metropolis to desist from blocking the roads whenever they have social gatherings of be prepared to face the music.

The government said the order was to ensure sanity on the roads, adding that the unscrupulous act of blocking the road for social gatherings was no longer acceptable.

Commissioner for Transportation, Prof. Bamidele Badejo said that it was high time the state government regulated the activities of the event centres that make road users go through hardship as a result traffic jams during and after social activities at event centres.

Badejo stated that event centres should henceforth ensure that they do everything possible to ensure free flow of traffic within their vicinity at all times, adding that any centre which defied the directive would be made to face the wrath of the law.

The commissioner said social event organisers must ensure that their guests parked appropriately in a way that the right of other road users would be protected.
