Robbers Kill 2 Cops At Epe

Tragedy hit the Epe Police Division yesterday when some unidentified armed men opened fire on a team of policemen on a stop and search mission at T-Junction, the entry point into Epe and Ijebu-Ode.

In the ensuing gun battle, two policemen were shot dead while two were wounded and are now in the hospital.

Those shot dead were identified as Corporal Momoh Abodunye and PC Abeyan Osahenhen while Corporal Idoku Sunday and Constable Hilary Osmond sustained injuries.  Those injured were quickly rushed to the hospital while the dead have been deposited at the mortuary in Ijebu-Ode.

A police source at Epe confirmed that a man-hunt has been launched for the suspects.

The DPO of Epe Police Station, Bitram Igbe confirmed the story, saying everything will be done to bring the suspects to book.
