Kebbi Marks Boy Scouts Day

The Boy Scouts Movement in Kebbi has engaged some youths as volunteers to propagate its fight against the spread of HIV and AIDS in the state.

A statement from the Scout Master in the state, Alhaji Lawal Musa, said in Birnin Kebbi on Monday that the engagement was part of its Founders Day celebration.

It said that the youths were mobilised from 21 schools.

It noted that the youths would partake in an awareness campaign on the dangers of child abandonment, prostitution, women trafficking and drug abuse.

It added that they were educated on the values of communal projects, group assistance to the needy, the fight against diseases, child abuse, indiscipline and youths’ involvement in political thuggery.

The scout master stated that the celebration attracted new entrants, adding that “we intend to encourage more youths to join the boy scouts to end indolence and peer group  influence”.

A cross section of the scouts expressed satisfaction with the new friends they made and also expressed their desire to sustain humanitarian services to the public.
