Woman Sells Fake Sex Chewing Gum
A 45-year-old female herbalist, Ladi Garkab, appeared before the Kasuwan Nama Upper Area Court, Jos, accused of selling fake sex-enhancing chewing gum to one Mrs. Laraba Idris.
Idris, who dragged the herbalist to court, alleged that the chewing gum, rather than help her to attain her optimum in bed, sent her to the hospital after she vomited blood for days.
The prosecuting police officer, Mr. Ashiru Ibrahim, told the court that one Sabo Isa, a relation of the victim, reported the matter to the “C†Division Police Station on Feb. 2 at about 9.30 p.m.
Ibrahim further told the court that Idris had complained that the herbalist convinced her that the chewing gum had the capacity to energise her for “several rounds of sex with her husbandâ€.
The prosecutor added that the complainant, after using the chewing gum, started experiencing strange feelings in her body.
“My Lord, the complainant later collapsed and started vomiting blood and was rushed to a private clinic in Jos for treatment,†the prosecutor told the court.
Under cross examination, Idris said that she bought the chewing gum with the aim of satisfying her husband.
She added that she thought the chewing gum would help her “to hold my husband so that he would not consider marrying another wife.
“My aim was to fully satisfy my husband so that he would not go outside.
“Instead of that, I found myself on a hospital bed. That forced me to confess to what happened to my husband.â€
Garkab, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and appealed to the court to grant her bail.
The Presiding Judge, Mustapha Hassan, adjourned the case to March 2, 2011 for further hearing and granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50,000 and one surety.
