Remi Tinubu Gives Succour To Fire Victims
Action Congress of Nigeria senatorial candidate for Lagos Central, Chief (Mrs.) Oluremi Tinubu has donated one million naira to victims of the Oluwole Market, Waterside, Apapa fire disaster.
Mrs. Tinubu who was at the market to sympathise with those who lost their goods in company of the Chairman of Apapa Local Government, Hon. Adewale Joseph, also called for the immediate reconstruction of the market.
During her visit to the burnt market, Mrs. Tinubu, while sympathising with the traders, said she could easily imagine their emotional and mental states at seeing their means of livelihood suddenly gone.
She said that she decided to visit and share with them in their moments of depression because she knew the extent of human damage such an unexpected incident could have inflicted on them.
Mrs. Tinubu also offered prayers for the affected traders.
One of the affected traders, Mr. Bolaji Salau, a spare parts’ dealer said he lost all. “I have two containers which served as my office. The name of my store is Borah Ventures where I sell different types of vehicle spare parts and many other stuff. I can’t even think well right now,” he stated.
Narrating the circumstances surrounding the incident, Salau said: “We had closed shop on Saturday evening without any problem. I was sleeping in my home when a friend suddenly called me between 12.30 and 1 a.m. and informed me that our market is on fire. Quickly, I jumped out of my bed, ran to my car, but by the time I got here, my two containers serving as my spare parts office, were gone. But I thank God that no life was lost in the incident.
Earlier, Mrs. Tinubu met with various women group within Apapa Local Government and Apapa-Iganmu LCDA inside the cozy hall of the Rockview Hotel along Park lane, Apapa, where she urged women during the interactive session to remain united and work together towards building one another up in the pursuit of their various trades.
