Voting Is Your Civil Right, Taxi Drivers Told

Members of Lagos State Taxi Drivers and Cab Operators have been urged to fully participate in the coming elections because it is their civic responsibility.

The call was made by Dr. Lateef Oseni and Prince Tajudeen Adetoro, the chairman and general secretary of the association respectively, while speaking with P.M.NEWS recently.

“It is very important for all taxi and cabs operators in the state, and the country in general, to vote for candidates of their choice in the coming election. It is their civic right that they must perform, because if they do not vote they cannot criticize whoever is elected. But if they vote they will have the power and audacity to caution such elected person,” Adetoro said.

Taxi drivers and cab operators were also charged to shun all forms of hooliganism during the coming election and not to allow themselves to be used as political thugs.

The taxi drivers chieftains said the branded taxis with campaign posters of the state governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, was a way of appreciating the governor for his contribution towards upgrading taxi operation in the state. They added that taxi operations in Lagos State can now measure up with what is obtainable in more developed countries.
