Mantu Babes Flee From Jos To Ibadan

A newly promoted amateur league club owned by the former Speaker of House of Representatives, Ibrahim Mantu,  Mantu Babes were forced to relocate from Jos, Plateau State because of the violence rocking the city.

The team have relocated to Ibadan, Oyo State to play their league matches. Coach of the club, Idris Mohammed, said at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan, that Mantu approved the relocation for security reason.

“Our chairman said the environment in Ibadan is very conducive for the development and progress of the team, and he asked us to camp here till peace return to Plateau State,” Mohammed said.

He said that Mantu Babes have been making quick progress since relocating to Ibadan as many of their players are being targeted by scouts who came from Turkey and Mexico.

Muhammed said: “We have played notable clubs since our arrival here. We won our matches against Adepoju Babes, Talented Soccer Academy and  Janata FC.”

The coach said reason the former speaker established the club is to contribute his own quota to the development of the round leather game in the country. “Our chairman has assured us of his readiness to support in building the team to a standard football club that can rub shoulder with other top teams in Nigeria.”
