We Have Not Endorsed Any Gov Candidate —LASU SUG
The Student Union Government (SUG) of the Lagos State University, Lagos State, South-West Nigeria has declared that it has not endorsed any governorship candidate in the state.
The union made this known at a press conference organised to introduce the new executive members of the union.
Speaking on April polls, the new president of the union, Adebayo Olayiwola Ibrahim, said the union has not endorsed candidate or political party for the governorship of Lagos State in this year’s general election.
He described the student union as an independent body that does not owe loyalty to a particular party or candidate.
The president denounced all the groups and individuals impersonating the legitimately elected union executives of LASU and advised the public against recognizing or making transactions with them.
Ibrahim also advised students and youths to desist from all forms of electoral malpractices and violence during the polls. ”They should not allow themselves to be used by any politician during the elections,” he added.
Adebayo also called on the INEC chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, to give all candidates and parties a level-playing ground towards a free, fair and credible election.
