Nwamkpa disclosed this at the weekend during a press conference for public presentation of trophies, awards and medals won by him in the last few years.

The Imo State born athlete said his achievement in the World Body Building and Power Lifting Championship, informed the decision of the world governing body to give Nigeria the hosting rights this year.

“I am happy that the organisers has decided to give Nigeria the hosting rights, which will go a long way in exposing our youths to the sport and also give our country the mileage,” he said.

Nwamkpa, popularly known as China, appealed to the states, federal government, corporate bodies and well meaning Nigerians to rally round the project and sponsor the event so that  the hosting rights will not be given to another country.

He also promised to groom young talents to international standards, to enable them win medals and trophies for Nigeria.

Nwamkpa  took part in the 2009 World Body Building Championship and Body Building Federation Universal Muscle Classic held in Grand Cayman Island in the Carribean.

Nwamkpa surpassed his own expectations as he won two trophies in both Men’s Open Class and Master Open Class in the 85kg category.

He also took part in the 2010 IFPA Universal Muscle Classics and came home with two silver medals  in both the Men’s and Master’s Classics.

He returned to Nigeria only to be informed via an e-mail two weeks later that the doping test results conducted during the championships had  been released and it was discovered that the athlete, who won gold medals in both Classes failed dope test.

He was therefore stripped of the medals and banned for seven years.
