Mayhem Averted In Ikorodu, As Bus Kills Two Pupils Of Same Parents

The police in Owutu Police Station in Ikorodu, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have averted a riot that could have resulted in loss of lives and properties.

P.M.NEWS gathered that following the killing of two kids of the same parents on their way to school by a driver at Majidun near Agric bus stop, youths in the area took to the street to protest the killing and in the process they set the bus ablaze.

The bus marked XJ350FST was said to be coming from Ikorodu to Lagos when the accident happened and the driver immediately took to his heels.

The police at Owutu Division, P.M.NEWS learnt, were immediately contacted. The timely intervention of a police team dispatched by the Owutu divisional police officer, DPO, brought the situation under control but not before the killer bus had been torched by the angry mob.

When P.M.NEWS visited Owutu Police Station, the DPO, refused to comment but referred the reporter to the state Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, Mr. Samuel Jinadu.

However, P.M.NEWS learnt from a reliable police source that the corpses of the two kids have been taken to a public mortuary while effort is being made to locate their parents.

According to an eyewitness who crave anonymity, the accident could have been averted if the bus driver was not competing with commercial motorcyclists who ply the road in defiance of the state government’s order restricting their operation on the road.
