Team Ribadu Sympathises With Katsina
The Nuhu  Ribadu campaign organisation has expressed its heartfelt sympathy with the people of Katsina State over the death of five persons in the state governor’s convoy.
The however condemned what it described as the “improper†conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)and the Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema, after the accident by going ahead with their campaign rally.
The organisation in a statement by its Director of Communications, Ibrahim Modibbo, accused the PDP and Governor Shema of being “insensitive to the victims of the accident†which involved the Governor’s convoy and claimed five lives including that of the Governor’s ADC.
“We condole with the family of the dead and the people of Katsina state; and pray that God grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
“We are however disturbed that the PDP and Governor Shema decided to go ahead with their campaign rally without respect for the dead.â€
Mr. Modibbo stated that though his organisation could not force the PDP and its members from doing what they wanted, the PDP should have respected the dead.
“We know we can stop them from doing whatever they like, but they should have at least respected the dead by not going ahead with the rally.
â€The organisation questioned the value and respect the PDP had for human life and if they valued one life than the other.
“If it was Governor Shema that died in the accident, would the PDP have gone ahead with the rally? If not, are we saying one life (the governor’s) is more important than the other?†the organisation asked.
Mr. Modibbo asked that the incident that led to the accident be investigated, so that it can be prevented in future.
“Some newspapers reported that the accident was caused by the fear that gripped the bus driver when he heard the siren and saw the convoy of the governor.
“While we cannot prove this story, we call on the relevant authorities to ensure that avoidable accidents like this are not allowed to happen on our roads.â€
The Ribadu Organisation spokesman also asked the Katsina State Government to ensure that all the injured people received required treatment.
