Burglars Raid PHCN Office In Portharcourt
Burglars who were obviously looking for quick cash last night raided the cash office of the Power Holding Company Nigeria, PHCN at the Rumuodamaya, Business Unit in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Port Harcourt.
The attack temporarily paralysing business transaction with customers.
The obviously frustrated thieves who were disappointed that they did not see cash carted away computer accessories at the cashier’s office.
P.M.NEWS visited the make-shift office located directly opposite the Rumuodamaya Divisional Police headquarters, Rumuodamaya, off Airport, Port Harcourt and found out that the Staff of the Business Unit operate in containers.
Customers who came to pay their bills were asked to pay with the copy of their bills and later come back in the day and collect the duplicate copy of their bills and receipts.
When our correspondent visited the Police Divisional Officer he was said to be unavailable.
However, officers at the counter referred all enquiries to the Police Command Public Relations Officer, Rita Innomma-Abbey for reaction as she was the only one allowed to speak with the press.
When contacted, the PPRO said no such case had been reported to her.
A senior staff of PHCN in Rumuodamaya who does not want his name mentioned confirmed the burglary incident, but said that adequate arrangement has been made to replace the UPS stolen for cash collection.
