Man Jailed For Stealing N8,000

A 28-year old man, Adedeji Akanbi has been docked before a Cele Magistrate’s Court, Isolo, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, for stealing N8,000 from a complainant, Ogbonna Felix.

He was arraigned on a one-count charge of theft, an offence punishable under Section 390 (4)(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.38, Laws of Lagos State, 2004.

Akanbi was alleged to have stolen N8,000 from Ogbonna Felix at Cele Express Bus Stop, Itire on 15 March, 2011.

The charge reads: “That you, Adedeji Akanbi on 15 March, 2011 at Cele Express Bus Stop, Itire in the Itire Magisterial District did steal N8,000 belonging to Ogbonna Felix and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 390 (4)(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.38, Laws of Lagos State, 2004.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate sentenced him to six months imprisonment.
