Faleke Speaks On Mission
Improved Federal Government presence via people-oriented projects and listing of the local council development areas in the constitution are some of the major priorities of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate for Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Honourable James Abiodun Faleke, if elected into the House in the coming general elections.
Speaking with Political Platform after being presented with the party’s flag as its official candidate at the political rally which took place at the Skypower playing ground in Ikeja, Faleke lamented that over the years, representatives of Ikeja at the National Assembly, especially the House of Representatives, have not lived up to expectations.
“And that is why you hardly see any meaningful federal government project in Ikeja Federal Constituency in the past 12 years.â€
According to him, Ikeja as part of the corporate entity called Nigeria, has its own quota from the federal government.
“My aim is to go there and demand for the benefits of my people and deliver to them what rightly belongs to them. As an experienced grassroots politician, I know their problems because I live among them and mix freely with them. We are going to ensure that they get their rights in terms of meaningful, development and people-oriented projects from the federal government.
“We will not fold our arms and allow others take away our rightful benefits from the federal government. This is one of the quality representations I will provide for the people of this federal constituency,†he said.
Apart from this, Faleke, former chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), stated that listing of the LCDAs in the Nigerian constitution, to enable them attain full local government status, is also paramount in his mind if he is elected into the House.
“One of the greatest achievements of the administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was the creation of the LCDAs. The LCDAs have accelerated development and growth of the grassroots and one of my main priorities if I’m elected into the House of Representatives is to work with lawmakers of like minds to ensure that these LCDAs are listed in the Nigerian constitution for them to assume full local government status,†he said.
For him, the party is heading for victory in the April polls. “We are winning by the special grace of God. Nigerians have come to realise that the ACN is the only party that can improve their standard of living, enhance their welfare and bring dividends of democracy to them.
“People have seen the positive turnaround of Lagos which started during the administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and was continued by Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN.
“They have also seen the positive revolution of infrastructure development in Osun; not to mention the giant strides being recorded by the ACN administrations in Ekiti and Edo States, so we are the beloved of the people and by the grace of God, they will always love us with their votes,†he said.
