Assistant Director of Lagos Liason National Sports Commission, NSC, Reverend Tayo Oreweme, has charged  Nigerian coaches to go back to schools and discover young talents that will represent Nigeria in future international competitions.

This competition is part of Lagos Liason Office contribution to the talent hunt programme of the National Sports Commission in bringing back lost glory in Sports

Oreweme stated this during the opening ceremony of Inter Primary School Table Tennis/Taekwondo Competitions.

At the two-day event, which was concluded last Friday, Oreweme said she was  impressed with the performance of the students that took part in the two games. She noted that Nigeria can excel in international meets if coaches discover young talents from schools.

“Our pupils have potential to be great if we discover them at  tender age. Some pupils who took part at the taekwondo and table-tennis performed well. What they need are coaches that will encourage them in their various schools,” he said.

She advised the pupils to continue to engage in sports  to keep them fit ahead of future challenges.

“We are sponsoring inter-primary school sports to create opportunity for  our coaches to discover young talents that will represent this country in the future. I will not be happy if we continue to use tired legs in international competitions” She said.

In the taekwondo event, Prince O.Ebere of Jessi Private School won the  gold medal in male category while Latefat Arogundade of Father Umar Schools won the female category.
