Jonathan Woos JNI, Islamic Preachers

President Goodluck Jonathan was in Kaduna yesterday to discuss with members of Ja’amatu Nasril Islam, JNI on why the Muslim community should vote him during the forthcoming elections.

At the meeting that lasted for more than three hours, Jonathan explained to the Sultan of Sokoto, Mohammed Abubakar Sa’ad and other members of the Muslim Ummah across the country that were present the need for Muslim preachers to avoid inflammatory messages that could set the Muslims against him in the elections

P.M.NEWS later gathered that the meeting held behind closed doors was stormy and engaging as the Muslim Ummah gave him conditions.

According to a source , the Muslim preachers asked the president to promise them that he would leave office in 2015 for a northerner to take over and complete the remaining four years.

The source also told P.M.NEWS that the sultan insisted that the JNI members would support him if only he would stick to his promise and not fail to quit office in 2015.

However, Jonathan promised to meet up with their demand in as much as members of JNI would desist from preaching against his candidature.

At the end of the meeting, which started at about 2.30p.m. and ended at 6.30 p.m., JNI agreed to stop campaign of calumny against Jonathan and his running mate Namadi Sambo.
