Gov Amaechi Suspends LG Boss

The Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area of the Rivers State, Hon. Emilia Gilbert Nte, has been suspended from office on the orders of the Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

A statement from the office of the Acting Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Blessing Wikina announced yesterday that the suspension order is not unconnected with issues bordering on security breaches in the local government area.

The statement added that a letter to that effect has been forwarded to the State House of Assembly.

In the meantime, the Vice Chairman of the local government council, Hon. Sylvanus Kingston, has been directed to oversee the affairs of the council.

The local chairperson just returned to the council two weeks ago from a suspension placed on her by the Rivers State House of Assembly over her inability to handle insecurity problems in the council.

Beyond security breaches, P.M.NEWS gathered that Hon. Nte has been accused of not being loyal to godfathers like Uche Secondus, PDP National Organising Secretary and his cousin, Tele Ikuru, the Deputy Governor, who are from the area.

A source said: “She has too much independent opinion of her own. That is one of her problems.”
