Residents Condemn INEC Over Postponed Elections
Residents of Santos Layout, a modest estate in Egbeda/Akowonjo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have called for the immediate removal and prosecution of Nigeria’s electoral umpire, Professor Attahiru Jega, over what they described as his monumental failure.
In a chat with P.M.NEWS Saturday following announcement of the postponement of the election, the residents in their hundreds called for Jega’s removal to atone for the shame and humiliation to which he has subjected Nigerians and Nigeria. Chanting solidarity songs, the residents asked Nigerians to reject Jega outright.
Mr. Taiwo Osunsanya, one of the residents said he was highly disappointed over the sad development. “I am highly pained because this is my first time to participate in any election in Nigeria. I decided to take part because they promised that our votes would count. Is this how they intend to make out votes count?
“I strongly believe that they want to frustrate Nigerians so that at the end of the day, votes would be allocated to favoured parties and candidates,†he opined.
