Over 300 members of the youth wing of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have decamped to the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.

The youths, who were received into the ACN at the Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA party secretariat, Ipaja town, by the House of Assembly candidate of the party in Alimosho constituency 1, Prince Bisi Yusuf, said they were leaving the PDP because they have no future in the party.

The defectors who came from Olorunishola and Atitebi areas of the LCDA were in two groups. The first grop was led by Mr. Sunday Sowunmi, while the other was led by Adekunle Fadeji.

Speaking on why they left the PDP, Sowunmi said it was unfortunate that they realised very late that the PDP had no future for them, stressing that they had been fooled over the years as they were led through an endless tunnel.

He said, “The PDP is a party full of liars. Our eyes are now open and we have decided to join the ACN, the party that has many programmes for its peoples welfare.

“In the PDP, we have been seriously cheated, so we decided to chart a new course and pitch our tent with the progressives. Today, we are well relieved,” Sowunmi told the crowd at the occasion.

The leader of the second group, Mr. Adekunle Fadeji said they were tired of the internal bickering in the PDP which had resulted in retrogression for its members, saying such development was not good for progress.

He said they were particularly attracted by the good works the ACN government in Lagos State has been doing and decided to associate with the success.

“We want development in our area, and the only way to achieve that is to align with the listening party in the state. Moreso, the former chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, made us to feel like real human beings,” he said.

Speaking at the occasion, Prince Bisi Yusuf assured them of equity and sincerity of purpose and urged them to remain loyal ACN members.
