Robbery Suspect In Police Net
Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Adeniji-Adele Road, Lagos Island, have arrested a robbery suspect at Ajah in Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
The suspect, Uche Adinoku, according to the police, was arrested on 13 November, 2010 inside his house at Ginoba Street, Ajah following a tip-off.
Items recovered from him include a barreta pistol with reference number 48102535, 20 rounds of 9mm live ammunition and two bags of Indian hemp.
He reportedly confessed to the crime, adding that he used sales of Indian hemp to cover up during the day.
Following his confession, the new Commissioner of Police, FSARS, Mark Idakwo, a Commissioner of Police, has appealed to members of the public to assist the police in the fight against criminals.
The suspect was later charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge of unlawful possession of firearms, offences contrary to and punishable under Section 27(a) and (b)(ii) of the Firearms Act, Cap. F28, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The presiding magistrate, Ms. M. O. Ope-Agbe, refused to take his plea and ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody pending advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP.
The matter has been adjourned till 27 April, 2011.
