Two Fake Journalists Arrested

Two out of four fake journalists who have been operating in Ibadan, capital of Oyo State, were arrested today by the police and men of State Security Service at the South West office of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

One of the fake journalists, Henry lied that he works with PM NEWS in Lagos but when he was brought to the correspondent of TheNews Magazine/ PM NEWS in Ibadan for identification, he denied knowing him.

This prompted the news men to raise alarm resulting in his being apprehended by security operatives.

The other fake journalist who declined disclosing his name latter confessed that he was formerly working with Galaxy Television.

He said that after he quit the television station, he has been trying to establish his own media outfit.

The remaining two fake journalists, a man and a woman who escaped arrest said that they were staff of MITV in Lagos .

They claimed they were posted to Oyo State to monitor the on-going election.

Some ACN staff claimed that Henry had gone to the party secretariat at Yemetu severally to interview the state Chairman, Chief Akintola Oke, saying that the politician who has just been elected into the House of Representatives, Mr. Awoleye Abiodun Dada was a victim of Henry yesterday Monday as he interviewed him in ACN office at Yemetu.

It took the intervention of the ACN leaders to persuade the party supporters not to beat them but to hand them over to the policemen.

ACN Secretary in Oyo State, Mr. Wasiu Olatubosun appealed to the supporters not to take laws into their hands, stressing that the party is very disciplined and would only resolve matters in a constitutional way.

He further said that beating them could lead to their death which would dent the image of the party as well as put the party into a serious problem.

“Please, cool your temper. Don’t touch them. We will hand them over to the police. We are not PDP that do whatever they like. They are the one that kill, we don’t kill. Also see what has happened as a result of the deterioration of our system. A situation where there is no job, a situation where government refuses to provide jobs, people will resort to all kinds of things to survive,, Tubosun stated.
