Fela’s Spirit Comes Alive Today

The spirit of the late Afrobeat musician, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, will come alive at the New Afrika Shrine as the second edition of Fela! On Broadway will be screened today.

Titled A Tribute Concert in Memory of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and a Homage to the Family, the show will feature a musical concert and screening of the award-winning tribute to the Afrobeat creator.

PMNEWS learnt that over 50 cast and crew members of the Fela on the Broadway arrived Lagos Saturday and visited the Shrine on Sunday to ascertain the level of preparedness by the Kuti family for the show.

They were said to have had final rehearsal yesterday in preparation for today’s show.

When P.M.NEWS visited the Shrine this morning, an iron stage with sets of robotic light and other facilitied have been mounted on the stage.

Speaking with P.M.NEWS, Fela’s daughter, Yeni said “we are ready.”
