Man Vandalises Transformer
An accused, Bestman Ekuma, has been docked before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ogudu, Lagos, for vandalising a transformer.
The police prosecutor, ASP Eyo Owai, arraigned him on a two-count charge of vandalism and felony, offences punishable under sections 516and 506 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 17, Vol. 11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2004.
He was arrested by the police on 31 march, 2011 at about 10p.m. at 14, Samora Street, Alapere, Ketu, Lagos.
His counsel, Happy Ovwigbo, told the court that the defendant does not have anybody to stand surety for him and that was why he pleaded guilty initially.
When the charges were read to him, he pleaded not guilty and the trial magistrate, Mrs. Y.O. Aje Afunwa, granted him tbail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties who must produce the receipt of tax payment to the Lagos State government.
The case has been adjourned till 2 May, 2011.
