Following the outcome of a Federal High Court judgment in Makurdi, Benue State, North Central Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has indefinitely shifted election for Oju State Assembly constituency.

This was stated in a press release by the Benue State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Nasir Ayilara.

The statement which was made available to P.M.NEWS in Makurdi, yesterday evening, disclosed that the cancellation was due to a Federal High court judgment in Makurdi, restraining it from conducting election for Oju Constituency.

“State assembly election in Oju Constituency will not hold on 26 April 2011 as earlier scheduled but all other elections will be held in the local government area,” Ayilara said.

He, however, stressed that all other earlier rescheduled elections will hold next week Tuesday including the Benue Northwest Senatorial district, Gwer West, Gwer East federal constituency and KatsinaAla/Logo/Ukum federal constituency which could not hold during the last National Assembly elections.

The INEC Resident commissioner urged the electorate to turn out en masse to vote for their preferred candidates, adding that the governorship will also hold on the same day.
