Baby Dumped In Poly Bag
A baby was found dumped in a polythene bag this morning at Efon Alaye Street, Shasha, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

A man who did not want to disclose his identity said: “I was passing-by when I saw a polythene bag shaking. I knew there must be a living thing in it but I did not know it was a baby.
I used a stick to open it and I saw a baby ins it. I drew the attention of other passers-by who then took the baby to the Baale of Jaiyeoba but he was not at home. They called a nurse to take care of the baby.â€
The nurse, Mrs. Ibrahim, told P.M.News, “The security man working with a motor company near my house came to tell me this morning that a baby found in a polythene bag at the bus stop and that I should go and take the baby. When I got there I saw people carrying the baby and I took it from them and cleaned it up as a nurse and a mother. Some Good Samaritans brought some clothes to cover the baby.â€
Mrs. Ibrahim said she worked as a nurse in Goodnews Hospital, when they were in Lagos, but now they have moved to Abuja, adding, “I have my own children, my last born was the one that even said ‘mummy let’s go and carry the baby’.
An eyewitness who said she is the wife of Jaiyeoba CDA chairman, told our reporter that when she heard about the abandoned baby, she rushed there to carry it but the nurse got there before her and while they were still thinking of what to do with the baby, the Baale of Jaiyeoba came to take it to the police station.
