6 Arraigned Over Murder
Policemen attached to the FCID, Force Headquarters, Abuja, Nigeria, have arraigned six suspects before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court over the alleged murder of Alhaji Wasiu Aromasodu in Imowo Kekere Town, Ikorodu, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
The police alleged that three of the accused Omotola Ogunsanmi, Rasak Aiyeola and Morufu Adebola on 30 August 2011 at Imowo Kekere junction, Ijede Road, Ikorodu allegedly attacked Alhaji Wasiu Aromosodu with machets, wood and guns which allegedly led to his death, while the other three accused, Sobowale Mojeed, Segun Kamson and Fashola Ayeni, were alleged to have on 13 March 2011 at Agunfuye village, Ikorodu conducted themselves in manner likely to cause a breach of peace.
They were arraigned on a three count-charge of murder, an offence which, according to the prosecuting police officer, Mr. O. Ogoko, CSP, are punishable under Section 324, 320 and 249 of the Criminal Code, Cap C17 vol. ii, laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
Count 2 reads: “That you Omotola Ogunsanmi, Rasak Aiyeola and Morufu Adebola and others at large on the 30 August, 2010 at Imowo Kekere Junction, Ijede Road in the Lagos magisterial district with intent, unlawfully, to kill, did attack one Alhaji Wasiu Aromosodu with machets, wood and guns.â€
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding magistrate granted bail to the first three accused in the sum of N100,000 with two surety in like sum who must produce evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government for three years, while the other three accused were granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with two surety whose addresses must be verified by the court. The matter was thereafter adjourned.
