Fire Razes Shopping Plaza

Fire razed down Yakobi Plaza this morning in Ojodu Berger, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

An eyewitness said the fire started at about 12 midnight and that was put out the fire but surprisingly, around 2 a.m., it started again and was beyond their control.

“The fire must have caused by a naked wire from one of the shops in the plaza,” the source said.

Another eyewitness, Mr. Ifeanyi Kenny, said before the fire service personnel arrived, it had destroyed many things.

“I understand that the ineptitude of workers at Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, caused the fire. So many people obtain the meter but installation is the problem and people go on tapping current from diverse sources,” Ifeanyi Kenny said.

Though the fire has destroyed properties worth millions of naira, no life was lost.
