Doctors Probe Death Of Housewife

Doctors at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi Araba, Mushin, Lagos are currently trying to determine the cause of death of a  46-year-old housewife, Mrs. Grace Osunwa who died after eating a meal of beans.

The remains of the deceased, who lived at 9, Musiliu Disu Street, Akesan, by LASU-Iyana-Iba Road, Lagos, have been deposited at the mortuary.

According to her husband, Mr. Anthony Osunwa, the incident occurred at their residence at Akesan, Lagos State.

Narrating his experience to P.M.NEWS, Osunwa said on that fateful night he ate the beans with his late wife.

“My wife cooked the beans and fried the plantain which we ate. Not quite long after the meal, her stomach started swelling,” he explained.

Osunwa said he immediately rushed her to Alimosho General Hospital, Igando, from where she was referred to Ikeja General Hospital.

“At Ayinke House, they told us that they had no bed. She was referred first to Railway Hospital in Ebute-Metta and from there to LUTH, Idi-Araba where they requested for blood.  We paid promptly for it.

“But before the blood could be transfused, my wife died,” Osunwa said.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the doctors at LUTH were about to carry out an autopsy on the body of the deceased to ascertain the real cause of her death as at the time of filing this report..
