Police Foil Attempt To Snatch Car
Anti-robbery policemen attached to Anthony Police Station, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, have foiled an attempt by two gunmen on a motorcycle to rob a man of his Honda Accord car along Ikorodu Road.
P.M.NEWS learnt that as soon as the gunmen sighted the police patrol team, they opened fire to which the police responded and after a gun battle that lasted for a while, the robbers fell to the superior fire power of the police.
Items recovered from included one new Jincheng motorcyle and live ammunition.
Similarly, anti-robbery policemen attached to Alakuko Police Station which just lost its Divisional Police Officer to robbers’ attack, Mr. Joseph Olatomokun, engaged some robbers in a gun duel along the Abeokuta Expressway, killing two of them on the spot.
According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Samuel Junaidu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, the police team was on a routine patrol when they ran into the robbers.
Items recovered from them according to our source include one unregistered Bajaj motorcycle, two locally made pistols, 30 live cartridges, four spent cartridges, a quantity of Indian hemp and a some phone recharge cards.
