Suspect Steals Pampers

The police in Lagos have arrested a man, Emmanuel Nnelim, 45 for stealing pampers valued at N8,570,000 from Wemy Industries, Alapere, Ketu, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

He was arrested on 30 November, 2010 at Wemy Industries, Alapere with others while armed with a gun and other harmful weapons.

He was arraigned before the Ikeja Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge of theft and possessing illegal arms, offences the prosecutor, Mr. Ojiemen Friday, said are contrary to Section 5(b) and punishable under Section 1(2) (a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Act.

Count one of the charge reads: “That you, Emmanuel Nnelim and others now at large on 30 November, 2010 at Wemy Industries, Alapere, Ketu, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District did conspire to commit felony and armed robbery and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 5(b) and punishable under Section 1(2)(a) of the Robbery and Firearms Act.”

The accused pleaded guilty and was refused bail by the magistrate, Mrs. A.C. Omoyele.

The case has been adjourned till 20 May, 2011 for continuation of trial.
