Company Alerts Customers on Fake Products

Mr. Nicolas Coussinoux, Sales Manager of Motorola Solutions in Africa, has advised customers of the company in Nigeria to beware of fake products in the market.

Coussinoux, who spoke at a media briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, advised customers to purchase products from only authorised dealers.

“We want the end users of our products to be aware of fake products in the market. We want them to buy from our dealers and distributiors.

“Just to be sure that customers are buying from the right Motorola dealer or distributor, the customers should ask for a dealer’s certificate,’’ Coussinoux said.

He said that Motorola issued certificates to its distributors and dealers to make it easier for customers to identify them.

Mr. Aloy Ezugwu, Director of Sales and Marketing in Briscoe Technologies in Nigeria, said that some dubious persons were faking Motorola’s products because of the successes the company had recorded over the years.

Ezugwu said that Motorola, its distributors and dealers would go under if the trend persisted.

“It is really a threat. It means that thousands of employees will be off work and their dependants will suffer,’’ he said.

According to him, fake products are detrimental to health because such products may explode and harm the user.

Ezugwu called on those who were faking Motorola’s products to stop and apply to be authorised dealers.

“It is not difficult to become a dealer but some people want to cut corners to make more profits at the detriment of the company and the nation at large,’’ he said.
