Team Nigeria Dazzle ’Em At U-19 Tourney In South Africa

Nigeria’s squash team have won the just concluded Dunlop Eastern U-19 Open Squash Championship held in Kempton Park, South Africa.

The Team Nigeria made up of Chidi Kalu, Zanaib Momoh, Adegoke Temiloluwa, Idowu Enimakure and Musa Kudu were cynosure of all eyes at the championship which ended on Monday.

Enimakure of Nigeria defeated Danny Brandson of South Africa 11-6, 6-9,11-5 and 11-4 in the final of the week long tournament.

Speaking with P.M. Sports after their arrival from South Africa, President of Nigeria Squash Federation, Femi Ajagbe, said the Nigerian team performed excellently in the competition. He called on the authorities to reward the teams for a job well done in South Africa.

He said the performance of the team in the South Africa tourney was an indication that Nigeria can conquer the world someday.

“If we can continue like this, I strongly believe that we are going to win more international competitions in the future. We are the best in Africa and we want to win more laurels,” he said.

Ajagbe expressed gratitude to the Minister of FCT, Abuja, Senator Bala Mohammed, for sponsoring the team to South Africa and charged other sport philanthropists and corporate bodies in the country to show more interest in other sports instead of only football.

Among the team official that returned home with the players are Tony Oke and Okechukwu Ruben.
