Obi Launches Equipment For Road Maintenance

Gov. Peter Obi of Anambra on Wednesday in Awka inaugurated caterpillar and road construction equipment worth about N300 million for the State Roads Maintenance Agency.

Speaking at the inauguration, Obi said that his administration had constructed more than 500 kilometres of roads in the last five years.

He said the equipment would enhance effective repair and maintenance of roads in the state.

“These equipment being launched today will help build a better Anambra.

“The money we are spending on some of our projects were received from donor agencies because of their belief that we are doing the right thing,” Obi said.

Government, he added, had executed more projects within the last one year than it did in the previous years.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Callistus Ilozumba, noted that the inauguration of the equipment as well as the State Materials Testing Laboratory marked a paradigm shift in roads construction.
