Wingle Sales Surge In Nigeria, Globally

Greatwall Motors’ China has reported strong sales, led by its locally-produced Wingle Pickup. According to the production and sales data from the China Automobile Association, 380,000 pickups were sold in 2010, including 103,200 Wingle Pickups, making 27% of the whole pickup market capacity.

In the first 10 months of 2010, 82,451 Wingle Pickups had been sold, equal to the annual sale of the previous year. By the end of 2010, Wingle Pickup had become the champion of sales for 13 consecutive years.

Wingle Pickup’s road to championship will not be completed without the charm of high-end products and the trust of consumers. While remaining the leader of Pickup market sales champion, the Greatwall also at the beginning of 2010 witnessed a new leap as it rolled off the 700,000 pickup which refreshed the legend of lead in the field and renewed the ‘Great Wall Miracle’ in China auto industry.

What stories are behind its successes?  Beneath the appealingly rugged exterior beats the heart of a true legend, this was the reason Asian Hall CICA Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of CFAO Group never relented in making the Wingle a household name in Nigeria.

Just as Great Wall’s products are reliable and suited to local conditions, they have been trusted by users because in just 18 years, Great Wall Motor Company is fast becoming one of China’s largest private transnational corporations. In Nigeria, however, there is one for every need —government parastatals, construction companies, food and beverage manufacturing companies, telecommunication outfits, agricultural purposes, corporate agencies, security companies and other industrial outfits.

There is the GW Wingle 4×2 Single cabin with a 2.2 litre engine, GW Wingle 4×2 double cabin with the same engine capacity, GW Wingle 4×4 double cabin luxury with fabric seat and the super luxury with leather seats both powered by 2.4 litre engines.

Wingle Pick up is the only Chinese pick up obtaining the EU WVTA certification and ELV environmental certification and meeting the strict international standards of pedestrian protection. The 4×4 Double cabin Wingle version is powered by a GW2.4 petrol Mitsubishi engine which is the first high pressure common rail electrical direct injection engine developed by Great Wall Motors. It has a claimed top speed of 140kph with the benefit of safety technology like airbags and ABS.

Headroom is sufficient and the adjustable seats make it a breeze to achieve a comfortable driving position. The dashboard features AC, headlight adjusters, power windows and the two Speaker CD player/FM radio is something to write home about. Other features include cup holders, spacious glove compartment and an electronic side mirror adjustment. There is even a 12V outlet to charge your cell phone in addition to the cigarette lighter. Shifting between two and four wheel drive is a simple button push away.
